No Compulsion in Religion

  1. There shall be no compulsion in religion; the right way has become distinct from the wrong way. Whoever renounces evil and believes in God has grasped the most trustworthy handle; which does not break. God is Hearing and Knowing.
  2. God is the Lord of those who believe; He brings them out of darkness and into light. As for those who disbelieve, their lords are the evil ones; they bring them out of light and into darkness—these are the inmates of the Fire, in which they will abide forever.

2-AlBaqarah

  1. This is the narrative of truth: there is no god but God. God is the Mighty, the Wise.
  2. But if they turn away—God knows the corrupt.
  3. Say, “O People of the Book, come to terms common between us and you: that we worship none but God, and that we associate nothing with Him, and that none of us takes others as lords besides God.” And if they turn away, say, “Bear witness that we have submitted.”

3-Al’Imran

  1. Had your Lord willed, everyone on earth would have believed. Will you compel people to become believers?
  2. No soul can believe except by God’s leave; and He lays disgrace upon those who refuse to understand.
  3. Say, “Look at what is in the heavens and the earth.” But signs and warnings are of no avail for people who do not believe.

10-Yunus

  1. The notables who disbelieved among his people said, “We see in you nothing but a man like us, and we see that only the worst among us have followed you, those of immature judgment. And we see that you have no advantage over us. In fact, we think you are liars.”
  2. He said, “O my people, Have you considered? If I stand on clear evidence from my Lord, and He has given me a mercy from Himself, but you were blind to it, can we compel you to accept it, even though you dislike it?”

11-Hud

  1. Say, “O disbelievers.
  2. I do not worship what you worship.
  3. Nor do you worship what I worship.
  4. Nor do I serve what you serve.
  5. Nor do you serve what I serve.
  6. You have your way, and I have my way.
