Testing People and Prophets فتنة الناس والانبياء

  • وَلَنَبْلُوَنَّكُمْ بِشَيْءٍ مِّنَ الْخَوْفِ وَالْجُوعِ وَنَقْصٍ مِّنَ الأَمْوَالِ وَالأنفُسِ وَالثَّمَرَاتِ وَبَشِّرِ الصَّابِرِينَ 155
  • الَّذِينَ إِذَا أَصَابَتْهُم مُّصِيبَةٌ قَالُواْ إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ 156
  • أُوْلَئِكَ عَلَيْهِمْ صَلَوَاتٌ مِّن رَّبِّهِمْ وَرَحْمَةٌ وَأُولَئِكَ هُمُ الْمُهْتَدُونَ 157

[ البقرة 155 – 157 ] (2)

  1. We will certainly test you with some fear and hunger, and some loss of possessions and lives and crops. But give good news to the steadfast.
  2. Those who, when a calamity afflicts them, say, “To God we belong, and to Him we will return.”
  3. Upon these are blessings and mercy from their Lord. These are the guided ones.

2-AlBaqarah

  • أَوَلاَ يَرَوْنَ أَنَّهُمْ يُفْتَنُونَ فِي كُلِّ عَامٍ مَّرَّةً أَوْ مَرَّتَيْنِ ثُمَّ لاَ يَتُوبُونَ وَلاَ هُمْ يَذَّكَّرُونَ 126

[ التوبة : 126 ] (9)

  1. Do they not see that they are tested once or twice every year? Yet they do not repent, and they do not learn.

9-AtTaubah

  • إِنَّا جَعَلْنَا مَا عَلَى الأَرْضِ زِينَةً لَّهَا لِنَبْلُوَهُمْ أَيُّهُمْ أَحْسَنُ عَمَلا 7
  • وَإِنَّا لَجَاعِلُونَ مَا عَلَيْهَا صَعِيدًا جُرُزًا 8

[ الكهف 7 – 8 ] (18)

  1. We made what is upon the earth an ornament for it, to test them as to which of them is best in conduct.
  2. And We will turn what is on it into barren waste.

18-AlKahf

  • وَإِنِّي لَغَفَّارٌ لِّمَن تَابَ وَآمَنَ وَعَمِلَ صَالِحًا ثُمَّ اهْتَدَى 82
  • وَمَا أَعْجَلَكَ عَن قَوْمِكَ يَا مُوسَى 83
  • قَالَ هُمْ أُولاء عَلَى أَثَرِي وَعَجِلْتُ إِلَيْكَ رَبِّ لِتَرْضَى 84
  • قَالَ فَإِنَّا قَدْ فَتَنَّا قَوْمَكَ مِن بَعْدِكَ وَأَضَلَّهُمُ السَّامِرِيُّ 85

[ طه 82 – 85 ] (20)

  1. And I am Forgiving towards him who repents, believes, acts righteously, and then remains guided.
  2. “And what made you rush ahead of your people, O Moses?”
  3. He said, “They are following in my footsteps; and I hurried on to You, my Lord, that you may be pleased.”
  4. He said, “We have tested your people in your absence, and the Samarian misled them.”

20-TaHa

  • كُلُّ نَفْسٍ ذَائِقَةُ الْمَوْتِ وَنَبْلُوكُم بِالشَّرِّ وَالْخَيْرِ فِتْنَةً وَإِلَيْنَا تُرْجَعُونَ 35

[ الانبياء : 35 ] (21)

  1. Every soul will taste death. We burden you with adversity and prosperity—a test. And to Us you will be returned.

21-AlAnbiya’

  • الم 1
  • أَحَسِبَ النَّاسُ أَن يُتْرَكُوا أَن يَقُولُوا آمَنَّا وَهُمْ لا يُفْتَنُونَ 2
  • وَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ فَلَيَعْلَمَنَّ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ صَدَقُوا وَلَيَعْلَمَنَّ الْكَاذِبِينَ 3

[ العنكبوت 1- 3 ] (29)

  1. Alif, Lam, Meem.
  2. Have the people supposed that they will be left alone to say, “We believe,” without being put to the test?
  3. We have tested those before them. God will surely know the truthful, and He will surely know the liars.

29-AlAnkabut

  • وَمِنَ النَّاسِ مَن يَقُولُ آمَنَّا بِاللَّهِ فَإِذَا أُوذِيَ فِي اللَّهِ جَعَلَ فِتْنَةَ النَّاسِ كَعَذَابِ اللَّهِ وَلَئِن جَاءَ نَصْرٌ مِّن رَّبِّكَ لَيَقُولُنَّ إِنَّا كُنَّا مَعَكُمْ أَوَلَيْسَ اللَّهُ بِأَعْلَمَ بِمَا فِي صُدُورِ الْعَالَمِينَ 10
  • وَلَيَعْلَمَنَّ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَلَيَعْلَمَنَّ الْمُنَافِقِينَ 11

[ العنكبوت 10 – 11 ] (29)

  1. Among the people is he who says, “We have believed in God.” Yet when he is harmed on God’s account, he equates the people’s persecution with God’s retribution. And if help comes from your Lord, he says, “We were actually with you.” Is not God aware of what is inside the hearts of the people?
  2. God certainly knows those who believe, and He certainly knows the hypocrites.

29-AlAnkabut

  • وَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا سُلَيْمَانَ وَأَلْقَيْنَا عَلَى كُرْسِيِّهِ جَسَدًا ثُمَّ أَنَابَ 34
  • قَالَ رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَهَبْ لِي مُلْكًا لّا يَنبَغِي لِأَحَدٍ مِّنْ بَعْدِي إِنَّكَ أَنتَ الْوَهَّابُ
  • فَسَخَّرْنَا لَهُ الرِّيحَ تَجْرِي بِأَمْرِهِ رُخَاءً حَيْثُ أَصَابَ
  • وَالشَّيَاطِينَ كُلَّ بَنَّاء وَغَوَّاصٍ
  • وَآخَرِينَ مُقَرَّنِينَ فِي الأَصْفَادِ
  • هَذَا عَطَاؤُنَا فَامْنُنْ أَوْ أَمْسِكْ بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ
  • وَإِنَّ لَهُ عِندَنَا لَزُلْفَى وَحُسْنَ مَآبٍ 40

[ ص 34 – 40 ] (38)

  1. We tested Solomon, and placed a body on his throne; then he repented.
  2. He said, “My Lord, forgive me, and grant me a kingdom never to be attained by anyone after me. You are the Giver.”
  3. So We placed the wind at his service, blowing gently by his command, wherever he directed.
  4. And the demons—every builder and diver.
  5. And others fettered in chains.
  6. “This is Our gift; so give generously, or withhold; without account.”
  7. For him is nearness to Us, and a beautiful resort.
