The Animals - Kindness to Them الرحمة بالحيوان

  • [6009]  عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رضي الله عنه أَنَّ رَسُولَ الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال (( بَيْنَمَا رَجُلٌ يَمْشِي بِطَرِيقٍ اشْتَدَّ عَلَيْهِ العَطَشُ ؛ فَوَجَدَ بِئْرًا فَنَزَلَ فِيهَا فَشَرِبَ ؛ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ  فَإِذَا كَلْبٌ  يَلْهَثُ يَأكُلُ الثَّرَى  مِنَ العَطَشِ ؛ فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ : لَقَدْ بَلَغَ هَذَا الكَلْبَ مِنَ العَطَشِ مِثْلُ الَّذِي كَانَ بَلَغَ بِي فَنَزَلَ البِئْرَ فَمَلأ خُفَّهُ  ثُمَّ أَمْسَكَهُ بِفِيهِ  فَسَقَى الكَلْبَ  فَشَكَرَ الله لَهُ  فَغَفَرَ لَهُ  )) قالو : يَا رَسُولَ الله وَإِنَّ لَنَا فِي البَهَائِمِ أَجْرًا   فَقَالَ : (( نَعَمْ ؛ فِي كُلِّ ذَاتِ كَبِدٍ رَطْبَةٍ أَجْرٌ ))

( صحيح البخاري )

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported

Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, “While a man was walking on his way he became extremely thirsty. He found a well, he went down into it to drink water. Upon leaving it, he saw a dog which was panting out of thirst. His tongue was lolling out and he was eating moist earth from extreme thirst. The man thought to himself: ‘This dog is extremely thirsty as I was.’ So he descended into the well, filled up his leather sock with water, and holding it in his teeth, climbed up and quenched the thirst of the dog. Allah appreciated his action and forgave his sins”. The Companions asked: “Shall we be rewarded for showing kindness to the animals also?” He (peace be upon him) said, “A reward is given in connection with every living creature

  • (1955) عَنْ شَدَّادِ بْنِ أَوْسٍ رضي الله عنه قَالَ : ثِنْتَانِ حَفِظْتُهُمَا عَنْ رَسُولِ الله صلى الله عليه وسلم  قَالَ : (( إِنَّ الله كَتِبَ الإِحْسَانَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ ؛ فَإَذا قَتَلْتُمْ فَأَحْسِنُوا القِتْلَةَ وَإِذَا ذَبَحْتُمْ فَأحْسِنُوا الذَّبْحَ وَلْيُحِدَّ أَحَدُكُمْ شَفْرَتَهُ فَلْيُرِحْ ذَبِيحَتَهُ ))

( صحيح مسلم )

On the authority of Abu Ya’la Shaddad bin Aws (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said

Verily Allah has prescribed ihsan (proficiency, perfection) in all things. So if you kill then kill well; and if you slaughter, then slaughter well. Let each one of you sharpen his blade and let him spare suffering to the animal he slaughters.”

( Sahih Muslim )

  • (1708 ) عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رضي الله عنهما  قَالَ : نَهَى رَسُولُ  اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم  عَنِ التَّحْرِيشِ بَيْنَ البَهَائِمِ

( جامع الترمذي )

Narrated Abu Yahya

From Mujahid from Ibn ‘Abbas who said: “The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) prohibited instigating fights between beasts.”

  • (3573) عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رضي الله عَنْهُمَا عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ  صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ :  (( الخَيْلُ فِي نَوَاصِيهَا الخَيْرُ إِلَى يَوْمِ القِيَامَةِ ))

( سنن النسائي )

It was narrated from Ibn ‘Umar that the Prophet said

“There is goodness in the forelocks of horses until the Day of Resurrection.”

(Sunan an-Nasa’i)

  • 3649) عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رضي الله عنهما : عَنْ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ  رضي الله عنه عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ (( لا تَدْخُلُ المَلائِكَةُ  بَيْتًا فِيهِ كَلْبٌ وَلا صُورَةٌ  ))

( سنن ابن ماجه )

It was narrated from Abu Talhah that the Prophet (peace be upon him)  said

“The angels do not enter a house in which there is a dog or an image.”

(Sunan Ibn Majah)

  • [ 3303] عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رضي الله عنه أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ : (( إِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ صِيَاحَ الدِّيَكَةِ  فَاسْأَلُوا الله مِنْ فَضْلِهِ فَإنَّها رَأَتْ مَلَكًا  وَإِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ نَهِيقَ الحِمَارِ  فَتَعَوَّذُوا بِالله مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ فَإنَّه رَأَى شَيْطَانًا ))

( صحيح البخاري )

Abu Huraira reported Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) as say- ing. When you listen to the crowing of the cock, ask Allah for His favour as it sees Angels and when you listen to the braying of the donkey, seek refuge in Allah from the Satan for it sees Satan
