Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) said, “If somebody gives in charity something equal to a date from his honestly earned money —-for nothing ascends to Allah except good—- then Allah will take it in His Right (Hand) and bring it up for its owner as anyone of you brings up a baby horse, till it becomes like a mountain.” Abu Huraira said: The Prophet. said, “Nothing ascends to Allah except good.”

I heard the Prophet (peace be upon him) saying, “O people! Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) used to give me something but I would say to him, “would you give it to a poorer and more needy one than l?” The Prophet (peace be upon him) said to me, “Take it. Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, “A needy person is not the one who goes from door to door, begging and is turned away with a morsel or two or with a date or two. In every declaration of the glorification of Allah (i.e., saying Subhan Allah) there is a Sadaqah, and in every Takbir (i.e., saying Allahu Akbar) is a Sadaqah, and in every celebration of praise (saying Al-hamdu lillah) is a Sadaqah, and in every declaration that He is One (La ilaha illallah) is a Sadaqah, and in enjoining of good is a Sadaqah, and in forbidding evil is a Sadaqah, and in man’s sexual intercourse (with his wife) there is a Sadaqah.” They (the Companions) said: “O Messenger of Allah, is there reward for him who satisfies his sexual need among us?” He said, “You see, if he were to satisfy it with something forbidden, would it not be a sin on his part?
