  • 116- عَنْ عَبْدِاللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ  رضي الله عَنْهُمَا قَالَ : صَلَّى بنا النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم العِشَاءَ فِي آخِرِ حَيَاتِهِ فلما سلَّم قَامَ فَقَالَ : (( أَرَأَيْتُكُمْ لَيْلَتَكُمْ هَذِهِ  فَإنَّ رّأسَ مِائَةِ سَنَةٍ  لا يَبْقَى مِمَّنْ هُوَ عَلى ظَهْرِ الأرْضِ أَحَدٌ ))

( صحيح البخاري )

Narrated `Abdullah bin `Umar

Once the Prophet (peace be upon him) led us in the `Isha’ prayer during the last days of his life and after finishing it (the prayer) (with Taslim) he said: “Do you realize (the importance of) this night?” Nobody present on the surface of the earth tonight will be living after the completion of one hundred years from this night.”

(Sahih al-Bukhari)

  • (1571) عَنْ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ  رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ : (( كُنْتُ نَهَيْتُكُمْ عَنْ زِيَارَةِ القُبُورِ  فَزُورُوهُا فَإِنَّها تُزَهِّدُ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَتُذَكِّرُ الآخِرَةَ ))

It was narrated from Ibn Mas’ud that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)  said, “I used to forbid you to visit the graves, but now visit them, for they will draw your attention away from this world and remind you of the Hereafter.”

  • (1610)  عَنْ عَبْدِاللهِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ  رضي الله عنهما  قَالَ : لَمَّا جَاءَ نَعْيُ جَعْفَرٍ  قَالَ رَسُولُ الله صلى الله عليه وسلم (( اصْنَعُوا لآلَ جَعْفَرٍ طَعَامًا  فَقَدْ أَتَاهُمْ مَا يَشْغَلُهُمْ أَوْ أَمْرٌ يَشْغَلُهُمْ  ))

It was narrated that ‘Abdullah bin Ja’far said

“When news of the death of Ja’far was brought, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: ‘Prepare food for the family of Ja’far, for there has come to them that which is keeping them busy or something which is keeping them busy

  • (1612)  عَنْ جَرِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِاللهِ البَجَلِيِّ  رضي الله عنه قَالَ : كُنَّا نَرَى الإجْتِمَاعَ إِلَى أَهْلِ المَيِّتِ وَصَنْعَةِ لطَّعَامِ مِنَ النِّيَاحَةِ ))

It was narrated that Jarir bin ‘Abdullah Al-Bajali said

“We used to think that gathering with the family of the deceased and preparing food was a form of wailing.”
