Fasting الصيام

  • [ 2840] عن أبي سَعِيدٍ الخُدْرِيِّ رضي الله عنه  قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ  صلى الله عليه وسلم يَقُولُ : (( مَنْ صَامَ يَوْمًا  فِي سَبِيلِ الله بَعَّدَ الله وَجْهَهُ عَنِ النَّارِ سَبْعِينَ خَرِيفًا  ))

( صحيح البخاري )

Narrated Abu Sa`id

I heard the Prophet (peace be upon him) saying, “Indeed, anyone who fasts for one day for Allah’s Pleasure, Allah will keep his face away from the (Hell) fire for (a distance covered by a journey of) seventy years

  • (2359) عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رضي الله عنه قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ الله صلى الله عليه وسلم :  (( مَنْ لَمْ يَدَعْ  قَوْلَ الزُّورِ وَالعَمَلِ بِهِ ؛ فَلَيْسَ لِلَّهِ حَاجَةٌ أَنْ يَدَعَ طَعَامَهُ وَشَرَابَهُ ))

Narrated Abu Hurairah

The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) as saying: If anyone does not abandon falsehood and action is accordance with it, Allah has no need that he should abandon his food and drink.

  • (2360 ) عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رضي الله عنه أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ  الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ :  (( الصِّيَامُ جُنَّةٌ إِذَا كَانَ أَحَدُكُمْ صَائِمًا  فَلَا يَرْفُثْ وَلَا يَجْهَلْ  فَإِنْ امْرُؤٌ قَاتَلَهُ أَوْ شَاتَمَهُ فَلْيَقُلْ : إِنِّي صَائِمٌ إِنِّي صَائِمٌ ))

( سنن أبي داود )

Narrated Abu Hurairah

The Prophet (peace be upon him) as saying: Fast is a shield ; when one of you is fasting, he should neither behave in an obscene manner nor foolishly. If a man fights or abuses him, he should say: I am fasting, I am fasting

  • (2455)  عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رضي الله عنه قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ الله صلى الله عليه وسلم :  (( لا تَصُومُ امْرَأَةٌ وَبَعْلُهَا شَاهِدٌ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِهِ  غَيْرَ رَمضَانَ وَلا تَأْذَن فِي بَيْتِهِ  وَهُوَ شَاهِدٌ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِهِ ))

( سنن أبي داود )

Abu Hurairah reported the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) as saying

It is not allowable for a woman to keep (voluntary) fast when her husband is present without his permission, and she may not allow anyone to enter his house without his permission

  • (2193) عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رضي الله عنه قَالَ :سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ  الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يَقُولُ فِي رَمَضَان   (( مَنْ قَامَهُ إِيمَانًا وَاحْتِسَابًا غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ ))

Abu Salamah bin ‘Abdur-Rahman narrated that Abu Hurairah said

“I heard the Messenger of Allah say concerning Ramadan: ‘Whoeve spends its nights in prayer (Qiyam) out of faith and in the hope of reward, he will be forgiven his previous sins.” ‘

(Sunan an-Nasa’i)

  • (2211) عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ رضي الله عنه ؛ عَنْ رَسُولِ الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ : (( إِنَّ اللهَ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى يَقُولُ : الصَّوْمُ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ ؛ وَلِلْصَائِمِ فَرْحَتَانِ : حِينَ يُفْطِرُ ؛ وَحِينَ يَلْقَى رَبَّهُ ؛ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي  بِيَدِهِ ؛ لَخُلُوفُ فَمِ الصَّائِمِ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللهِ مِنْ رِيحِ المِسْكِ ))

It was narrated from ‘Ali bin Abi Talib that the Messenger of Allah said

“Allah, may He be blessed and exalted, says: ‘Fasting is for me and I shall reward for it. The fasting person has two moments of joy: When he breaks his fast and when he meets his Lord.’ By the One in whose hand is my soul, the smell that comes from the mouth of the fasting person is better before Allah than the fragrance of musk.”

(Sunan an-Nasa’i)

  • (2233)  عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رضي الله عنها عَنِ النَّبِيَّ  صلى الله عليه وسلم  قَالَ : (( الصِيَامُ جُنَّةٌ  فَمَنْ أَصْبَحَ صِائِمًا  فَلَا يَجْهَلْ يَوْمَئِذٍ  ؛ وَإِنْ امْرُؤٌ جَهِلَ عَلَيْهِ فَلَا يَشْتُمْهُ وَلَا يَسُبَّهُ  وَلْيَقُلْ : إِنِّي صَائِمٌ . وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ ؛ لَخُلُوفُ فَمِ الصَّائِمِ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللهِ مِنْ رِيحِ المِسْكِ ))

It was narrated that ‘Aishah said that the Prophet said

“Fasting is a shield against the Fire. Whoever starts the day of fasting, let him not act in an ignorant manner during that day. If anyone treats him in an ignorant maner, let him not insult him or curse him, rather let him say: “I am fasting.’ By the One in whole hand is the soul of Muhammad, the smell that comes from the mouth of a fasting person is better before Allah than the fragrance of musk.”
