The Prophet Mohammed أحوال الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم

  • [1130] عَنِ المُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبة  رضي الله عنه  قَالَ : إِنْ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم  لَيَقُوُم لِيًصَلِّيَ حَتَّى تَرِمُ قَدَمَاهَ  – أَوْ سَاقَاهُ – ؛ فيُقَالُ لَهْ ؛ فَيَقُولُ : ((أَفَلا أَكُونُ عَبْدًا شَكُورًا  ))

( صحيح البخاري )

Narrated Al-Mughira

The Prophet (peace be upon him) used to stand (in the prayer) or pray till both his feet or legs swelled. He was asked why (he offered such an unbearable prayer) and he said, “should I not be a thankful slave.”

  • [1588]  عَنْ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ رضي الله عنهما  : أَنَّه قَالَ : يَارَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؛ أَيْنَ تَنْزِلُ  فِي دَارِكَ بِمَكَّةَ  ؟ فَقَالَ : (( وَهَلْ تَرَكَ عَقِيلٌ مِنْ رِبَاعٍ أَوْ دُورٍ  ؟ ))  وَكَانَ عَقِيلُ وَرِثَ أَبَا طَالبٍ ؛ هُوَ وَطَالِبٌ ؛ وَلَمْ يَرِثُهُ جَعْفَرٌ وَلا عَلِيٌّ رضي الله عنهما شَيْئًا ؛ لأنَّهُمَا كَانَا مُسْلِمَيْنِ ؛ وَكَانَ عَقَيلٌ وَطَالِبٌ كَافِرَيْنِ ؛ فَكَانَ عُمَرُ رضي الله عنه يَقُولُ : لا يَرِثُ المُؤمِنُ الكَافِرَ

Usama b. Zaid b. Haritha (Allah be pleased with him) said to Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him)

Will you stay in your house at Mecca (which you abandoned at the time of migration)? Thereupon he said: Has ‘Aqil left for as any land or house? And ‘Aqil and Talib became the Inheritors of Abu Talib’s (property), and neither Ja’far nor ‘Ali inherited anything from him, for both (Ja’far and ‘Ali) were Muslims whereas ‘Aqil and Talib were non-Muslims

  • [2120] عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رضي الله عنه قَالَ : كَانَ النَّبيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم  فِي السُّوقِ  فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ : يَا أبَا القَاسِمِ ؛ فَالتَفَتَ إليهِ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم  فَقَالَ : إِنَمَا دَعَوْتُ هذا ؛ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم (( سَمُّوا باسمي ولا تَكَنَّوا بِكُنْيَتِي ))

Narrated Anas bin Malik

While the Prophet (peace be upon him) was in the market, somebody, called, “O Abul-Qasim.” The Prophet (peace be upon him) turned to him. The man said, “I have called to this (i.e. another man).” The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “Name yourselves by my name but not by my Kunya (name).” (In Arabic world it is the custom to call the man as the father of his eldest son, e.g. Abul-Qasim

  •  [6025] عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ أَنَّ أَعْرَابِيًا  بَالَ فِي المسْجِدِ فَقَامُوا إِلَيْهِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ الله صلى الله عليه وسلم (( لا تُزْرِمُوهُ ))  ثُمَّ دَعَا بِدَلْوٍ مِنْ مَاءٍ فَصُبَّ عَلَيْهِ ))

( صحيح البخاري )

Narrated Anas bin Malik

A bedouin urinated in the mosque and the people ran to (beat) him. Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) said, “Do not interrupt his urination (i.e. let him finish).” Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) asked for a tumbler of water and poured the water over the place of urine

  • (196)  عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ  رَضِيَ الله عَنْهُ  قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ الله صلى الله عليه وسلم (( أَنَا أَوَّلُ النَّاسِ يَشْفَعُ فِي الجَنَّةِ وَأَنَا أَكْثَرُ الأَنْبِيَاءِ تَبَعًا ))

( صحيح مسلم )

Anas b. Malik reported

The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: I would be the first among people to intercede in the Paradise and amongst the apostles I would have the largest following (on the Day of Resurrection)

  • (197)  عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رضي الله عنه قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ الله صلى الله عليه وسلم (( آتِي بَابَ الجَنَّةِ  يَوْمَ القِيَامَةِ فَأَسْتَفْتِحْ فَيَقُولُ الخَازِنُ : مَنْ أَنْتَ ؟ فَأَقُولُ : مُحَمَّدٌ  فَيَقُولُ : بِكَ أُمِرْتُ ؛ لا أَفْتَحُ لأَحَدٍ قَبْلَكَ ))

( صحيح مسلم )

Anas b. Malik reported

The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: I will come to the gate of Paradise on the Day of Resurrection. and would seek its opening. and the keeper would say: Who art thou? I would say: Muhammad. He would then say: It is for thee that I have been ordered, and not to open it for anyone before thee

  • (523)  عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رضي الله عنه أَنَّ رَسُولَ الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ (( فُضِّلْتُ عَلَى الأنْبِيَاءِ بِسِتٍّ : أُعْطِيتُ جَوَامِعَ الكَلِمِ ؛ وَنُصِرْتُ بِالرُّعْبِ ؛ وَأُحِلَّتْ لِي الغَنَائِم ؛ وَجُعِلَتْ لِيَ الأرْضُ طَهُوراً  وَمَسْجِدًا ؛ وَأُرْسِلْتُ إِلى الخَلْقِ كَافَّةً ؛ وَخُتِمَ بِي النَّبِيُّونَ ))

( البخاري ومسلم )

Abu Huraira reported that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon hlmg) said

I have been given superiority over the other prophets in six respects: I have been given words which are concise but comprehensive in meaning; I have been helped by terror (in the hearts of enemies): spoils have been made lawful to me: the earth has been made for me clean and a place of worship; I have been sent to all mankind and the line of prophets is closed with me

  • (2278) عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رضي الله عنه قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ الله صلى الله عليه وسلم :  (( أَنَا سَيِّدُ وَلَدِ آدَمَ يَوْمَ القِيَامَةِ  ؛ وَأَوَّلُ مَنْ يَنْشَقُّ عَنْهُ القَبْرُ ؛ وَأَوَّلُّ شَافِعٍ وَأَوَّلُ مُشَفَّعٍ ))

( صحيح مسلم )

Abu Huraira reported Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) as saying

I shall be pre-eminent amongst the descendants of Adam on the Day of Resurrection and I will be the first intercessor and the first whose intercession will be accepted (by Allah)

( Sahih Muslim )

  • (4728) عَنْ أَنَسٍ رضي الله عنه عَنِ النَّبِيِّ  صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ : ((  شَفَاعَتِي لأَهْلِ الكَبَائِرِ مِنْ أُمَّتِي ))

( سنن أبي داود )

Narrated Anas ibn Malik

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: My intercession will be for those of my people who have committed major sins

(Sunan Abi Dawud)

  • (4778) عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رضي الله عنها  قَالَتْ : مَا ضَرَبَ رَسُولُ الله صلى الله عليه وسلم خَادِمًا وَلَا امْرَأَةً  قَطُّ  .

`A’isha said

the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) never struck a servant or a woman

(Sunan Abi Dawud)

  • (4852)  عَنْ عَبْدِاللهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ  رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ الله صلى الله عليه وسلم :  (( لا يُبَلِّغْنِي أَحَدٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِي عَنْ أَحَدٍ شَيْئًا فَإِنِّي أُحِبُّ أَنْ أَخْرُجَ إِلَيْكُمْ وَأَنَا سَلِيمُ الصَّدْرِ ))

( سنن أبي داود )

Narrated Abdullah ibn Mas’ud

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: None of my Companions must tell me anything about anyone, for I like to come out to you with no ill-feeling

(Sunan Abi Dawud)

  • (484) عَنْ عَبْدِاللهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ  رضي الله عنه قَالَ  : أَنَّ  رَسُولَ الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ (( أَوْلَى النَّاسِ بِي يَوْمَ القِيَامَةِ أَكْثَرُهُمْ عَلَيَّ صَلاةً ))

( جامع الترمذي )

Abdullah bin Mas’ud narrated that

Allah’s Messenger said: “The person closest to me on the Day of Judgement is the one who sent the most Salat upon me.”

  • (485) عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رضي الله عنه قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ الله صلى الله عليه وسلم : (( مَنْ صَلَّى عَلَيَّ صَلاةً صَلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ بِهَا عَشْرًا ))

( جامع الترمذي )

Abu Hurairah narrated that

Allah’s Messenger said: “Whoever sends Salat upon me, Allah sends Salat upon him ten times.”

  • (486) عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الخَطَّابِ رضي الله عنه قَالَ : إِنَّ الدُّعَاءَ مَوْقُوفٌ بَيْنَ السَّمَاءِ وَالأَرْضِ لا يَصْعَدُ مِنْهُ شَيْءٌ حَتَّى تُصَلِّيَ عَلَى نَبِيِّكَ صلى الله عليه وسلم

( جامع الترمذي )

Umar bin Al-Khattab narrated

“Indeed the supplication stops between the heavens and the earth. Nothing of it is raised up until you send Salat upon your Prophet.”

  • (2489) عَنِ الأَسْوَدِ ابْنِ يَزِيدَ  قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِعَائِشَةَ : أَيُّ شَيْءٍ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَصْنَعُ إَذَا دَخَلَ بَيْتَهُ ؟ قَالَتْ (( كَانَ يَكُونُ  فِي مَهْنَةِ أَهْلِهِ ؛ فَإِذَا حَضَرَتِ الصَّلاةُ قَامَ فَصَلَّى ))

Aswad bin Yazid narrated

“I said: ‘O ‘Aishah! What would the Prophet (peace be upon him)) do when he entered his house?’ She said: ‘he would busy himself with serving his family, then when (the time for) Salat was due he would stand (to go) for it.'”

  • (2754)  عَنْ أَنَسٍ رضي الله عنه قَالَ :لَمْ يَكُنْ شَخْصٌ أَحَبَّ إِلِيْهِمْ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَكَانُوا إِذَا رَأَوْهُ لَمْ يَقُومُوا ؛ لِمَا يَعْلَمُونَ مِنْ كَرَاهِيَتِهِ لِذَلِكَ

( جامع الترمذي )

Narrated Anas

“There was no person more beloved to them than the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him).” [He said:] “And they would not stand when they saw him because they knew that he disliked that.”
