Sin - The Gravest السبع الموبقات

  •  (89) عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رضي الله عنه أن  رَسُولَ الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ (( اجتنبوا السَّبْعَ المُوبِقَات )) قِيلَ :  يَارَسُولَ االله وَمَا هُن َّ ؟ قَالَ : (( الشِّرْكُ بالله ؛ والسِّحْرُ ؛ وَقَتْلُ النَّفْسِ الَّتِي حَرَّم الله إِلا بِالحَقِّ  ؛ وَأَكْلُ مَالِ اليَتِيمِ  ؛ وَأَكْلُ الرِّبَا  ؛ وَالتَوَلِّي يَوْمَ الزَّحْفِ ؛ وَقَذْفُ المُحْصَنَاتِ الغَافِلاتِ المؤمِنَاتِ ))

It is reported on the authority of Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) observed

Avoid the seven noxious things. It was said (by the hearers): What are they, Messenger of Allah? He (the Holy Prophet) replied: Associating anything with Allah, magic, killing of one whom God has declared inviolate without a just cause, consuming the property of an orphan, and consuming of usury, turning back when the army advances, and slandering chaste women who are believers, but unwary

  • (86)  عَنْ عَبْدِالله  قَالَ (( سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أَيُّ الذُّنُوبِ أَعْظَمُ عِنْدَ الله  ؟ قَالَ : (( أَنْ تَجْعَلَ لله نِدًّا وَهُوَ خَلَقَكَ ))  قَالَ : قُلْتُ لَهُ : إِنَّ ذَلك لَعَظِيمٌ . قَال: قُلْتُ : ثُمَّ أَيُّ ؟ قَالَ (( ثُمَّ أَنْ تَقْتُلَ وَلَدَكَ مَخَافَةَ أَنْ يَطْعَمَ مَعَكَ )) قَالَ : قُلْتُ : ثُمَّ أَيُّ ؟ قّالّ : (( ثُمَّ أَنْ تُزَانِي حَلِيلَةَ جَارِكَ ))

‘Abdullah reported

I asked the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him): Which sin is the gravest in the eye of Allah? He (the Holy Prophet) replied: That you associate a partner with Allah (despite the fact) that He has created you. He (the reporter) said: I told him (the, Holy Prophet): Verily it is indeed grave. He (the reporter) said: I asked him what the next (gravest sin) was. He (the Holy Prophet) replied: That you kill your child out of fear that he shall join you in food. He (the reporter) said: I asked (him) what the next (gravest sin) was. He (the Holy Prophet) observed: Then (the next gravest sin) is that you commit adultery with the wife of your neighbour

  • [2654 ]  عن أبي بَكْرَةَ رضي الله عنه  قَالَ : قَالَ النَّبِيُ صلى الله عليه وسلم (( أَلا أُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِأَكْبَرِ الكَبَائِرِ ؟ )) ثَلاثًا ؛ قَاُلوا : بَلَى يَارَسُولَ الله قَالَ : (( الإشْرَاكُ بِالله وَعُقُوقُ الوَالِدَيْنِ وَجَلَسَ وَكَانَ مُتَّكِئًا  فَقَالَ : (( أَلا وَقَوْلُ الزُّورِ )) فَمَا زَالَ يُكَرِّرُهَا حَتَّى قُلْنَا لَيْتَهُ سَكَتَ

It is narrated on the authority of ‘Abdur-Rahman b. Abu Bakra that his father said

We were in the company of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) that he observed: Should I not inform you about the most grievous of the grave sins? (The Holy Prophet) repeated it three times, and then said: Associating anyone with Allah, disobedience to parents, false testimony or false utterance. The Prophet was reclining, then he sat up, and he repeated it so many times that we wished that he should become silent

  • [2076]  عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِاللهِ رضي الله عنهما: أَنَّ رَسُولَ الله صلى الله عليه وسلم  قَالَ (( رَحِمَ اللَّهُ  رَجُلاً  سَمْحًا إِذَا بَاعَ وَإِذَا اشْتَرى وَإِذَا اقتَضَى ))

Jabir (May Allah be pleased with him) reported

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “May Allah show mercy to a man who adopts a kind attitude when he sells, buys and demands for the repayment of loans.”

(Sahih al-Bukhari)

  • [2087]  عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رضي الله عنه قَالَ :سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ  الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يَقُولُ:  (( الحَلِفُ مُنَفِّقَةٌ لِلسِّلْعَةِ مُمْحِقَةٌ لِلبَرَكَةِ ))

Narrated Abu Huraira

I heard Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) saying, “The swearing (by the seller) may persuade the buyer to purchase the goods but that will be deprived of Allah’s blessing.”

(Sahih al-Bukhari)

  • [2158] عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رضي الله عنهما  قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم : (( لا تَلَقَّوا الرُّكْبَانْ ؛ وَلا يَبَيعُ حَاضِرٌ لِبَاد )) فَقِيلَ لابنِ عَبَّاسٍ : مَا قَولهُ : (( لا يَبِيعُ حَاضِرٌ لِبَاد ))  قَالَ : لا يَكُونُ  لَهُ سِمْسَارًا

Narrated Ibn ‘Abbas

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade a townsman to sell for a man from the desert. I asked: What do you mean by the selling of a townsman for a man from the desert ? He replied: He should not be a broker for him

  • [2227]  عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رضي الله عَنْ النَّبِيَّ  صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ : ((  قَالَ اللَّهُ : ثَلاثَةٌ  أَنَا خَصْمُهُمْ يَومَ القِيَامَةِ : رَجُلٌ أَعْطَى بِي ثُمَّ غَدَرَ ؛ وَرَجُلٌ بَاعَ حُرًّا فَأَكَلَ ثَمَنَهُ ؛ وَرَجُلٌ اسْتَأجَرَ أَجِيرًا  فَاسْتَوْفَى مِنْهُ وَلَمْ يُعْطِهِ أَجْرَهُ  ))

( صحيح البخاري )

Narrated Abu Huraira

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Allah says, ‘I will be against three persons on the Day of Resurrection: -1. One who makes a covenant in My Name, but he proves treacherous. -2. One who sells a free person (as a slave) and eats the price, -3. And one who employs a laborer and gets the full work done by him but does not pay him his wages.’ “

  • [2237] عن أبي مَسْعُودٍ الأنصاري رضي الله عنه  : أَنَّ رَسُولَ الله صلى الله عليه وسلم نَهَى عَنْ ثَمَنِ الكَلْبِ وَمَهْرِ البَغِيِّ وَحُلْوَانِ الكَاهِنِ

Narrated AbuMas’ud

The Prophet (ﷺ) forbade the price paid for a dog, the hire paid to a prostitute, and the gift given to a soothsayer

  • (1513) عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رضي الله عنه قَالَ : نَهَى رَسُولُ الله صلى الله عليه وسلم عَنْ بَيْعِ الحَصَاةِ وَعَنْ بَيْعِ الغَرَرْ

( صحيح مسلم )

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said

“The Messenger of Allah forbade Gharar transaction and Hasah transactions.”

  • (102 )  عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رضي الله عنه أنَّ رَسُولَ الله صلى الله عليه وسلم مَرَّ عَلَى صُبْرَةِ طَعَامٍ فَأَدْخَلَ يَدَهُ فِيْهَا  فَنَالَتْ أَصَابِعُهُ بَلَلاً  فَقَالَ : (( مَا هَذَا يَا صَاحِبَ الطَّعَامِ )) فَقَالَ : أَصَابَتْهُ السَّمَاءُ يَارَسُولَ الله ! قال : (( أَفَلا جَعَلْتَهُ فَوْقَ الطَّعَامِ كَيْ يَرَاهُ النَّاسُ ؟ مَنْ غَشَّ فَلَيْسَ مِنِّي  ))

( صحيح مسلم )

It is narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) happened to pass by a heap of eatables (corn). He thrust his hand in that (heap) and his fingers were moistened. He said to the owner of that heap of eatables (corn)

What is this? He replied: Messenger of Allah, these have been drenched by rainfall. He (the Holy Prophet) remarked: Why did you not place this (the drenched part of the heap) over other eatables so that the people could see it? He who deceives is not of me (is not my follower)
