  • [29 ] عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رضي الله عنهما  قَالَ : قَالَ النَّبِيُّ  الله صلى الله عليه وسلم : (( أُرِيْتُ  النَّارَ فَإَذَا أَكْثَرُ أَهْلِهَا النِّسَاءُ يَكفُرْن ))  قِيلَ : أَيَكْفُرْنَ بِاللَّهِ  ؛ قَالَ )): يَكْفُرْنَ العَشِيرَ ؛ وَيَكْفُرنَ الإِحْسَانَ ؛ لَوْ أَحْسَنْتَ إِلَى إِحْدَاهُنَّ الدَّهْرَ ثُمَّ رَأَتْ مِنْكَ شَيْئًا ؛ قَالَتْ : مَا رَأَيْتُ مِنْكَ خَيْرًا قَطُّ ))

( صحيح البخاري )

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “I was shown the Hell-fire and that the majority of its dwellers were women who were ungrateful.” It was asked, “Do they disbelieve in Allah?” (or are they ungrateful to Allah?) He replied, “They are ungrateful to their husbands and are ungrateful for the favors and the good (charitable deeds) done to them. If you have always been good (benevolent) to one of them and then she sees something in you (not of her liking), she will say, ‘I have never received any good from you

(Sahih al-Bukhari)

  • [130] عن أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ رضي الله عنها  قالت : جاءت أُمُّ سُلَيْم الى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم  فقالت : يارسولَ اللهِ  إِنَّ الله لا يَسْتَحيِي مِنَ الحقِّ ؛ فَهَلْ على المرأةِ مِن غُسْلٍ إِذَا احْتَلَمَتْ ؟ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم ((إذَا رَأَتْ المَّاءَ )) فغطَّت أمُّ سَلَمَةَ  تعني وَجْهَهَا وَقَالَتْ : يَارَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَوَتَحْتَلِمُ المرأةُ ؟ قال : (( نَعَمْ ؛ تَرِبَتْ يَمِينُكِ فَبِمَ يُشْبِهُهَا وَلَدُهَا ))

( صحيح البخاري )

Narrated Um Salama

Um-Sulaim came to Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) and said, “Verily, Allah is not shy of (telling you) the truth. Is it necessary for a woman to take a bath after she has a wet dream (nocturnal sexual discharge?) The Prophet replied, “Yes, if she notices a discharge.” Um Salama, then covered her face and asked, “O Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him)! Does a woman get a discharge?” He replied, “Yes, let your right hand be in dust (An Arabic expression you say to a person when you contradict his statement meaning “you will not achieve goodness”), and that is why the son resembles his mother.”

  • [1801] عَنْ جَابِرٍ رضي الله عنه  قَالَ : نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَنْ يَطْرُقَ الرَّجُلُ أَهْلَهُ لَيْلاً يَتَخَوَّنُهُمْ أَوْ يَلْتَمِسُ عَثَرَاتِهِمْ

( صحيح البخاري )

It has been narrated (through a different chain of tranmitten) on the authority of Jabir who said

The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) forbade that a man should come to his family like (an unexpected) night visitor doubting their fidelity and spying into their lapses

(Sahih al-Bukhari)

  • [5244] عن عَاصِمُ بنُ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنَ الشَّعْبِيِّ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ  جَابِرَ بنَ عبدِالله رضي الله عنه يقول : قَالَ رَسُولُ الله صلى الله عليه وسلم (( إِذَا أَطَالَ أَحَدُكُمْ الغَيْبَةَ  فَلا يَطْرُقْ أَهْلَهُ لَيْلا ))

( صحيح البخاري )

Narrated Jabir bin `Abdullah

Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) said, “When anyone of you is away from his house for a long time, he should not return to his family at night

(Sahih al-Bukhari)

  • (563)  عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رضي الله عَنْهُمَا قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ الله صلى الله عليه وسلم : (( لا تَمْنَعُوا نِسَاءَكُمْ المَسَاجِدَ  وَبُيُوتُهُنَّ خَيْرٌ لًهُنَّ ))

( سنن أبي داود )

Ibn ‘Umar reported the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) as saying; Do not prevent your women from visiting the mosque; but their houses are better for them (for praying)

(Sunan Abi Dawud)

  • (635) عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ بْنِ زَيْدِ بْنِ قُنْفُدٍ  عَنْ أُمِّهِ  أَنَّهَا سَأَلَتْ أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ ؛ مَاذَا تُصَلِّي فِيهِ المَرْأَةُ مِنَ الثِيَابِ ؟  فَقَالَتْ : تُصَلِّي فِي الخِمَارِ وَالدِّرْعِ السَّابِغِ الَّذِي يُغَيِّبُ ظُهُورَ قَدَمَيْهَا

( سنن أبي داود )

Zaid b. Qunfudh said that his mother asked Umm Salamah

In how many clothes should a woman pray? She replied; she would pray wearing a veil and a long shirt which covers the surface of her feet

(Sunan Abi Dawud)

  • (2175) عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رضي الله عنه قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ الله صلى الله عليه وسلم : (( لَيْسَ مِنَّا مَنْ خَبَّبَ امْرَأَةً عَلَى زَوْجِهَا أَوْ عَبْدًا عَلَى سَيِّدِهِ ))

( سنن أبي داود )

Narrated AbuHurayrah

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Anyone who incites a woman against her husband or a slave against his master is not one of us

(Sunan Abi Dawud)

  • (2175) عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رضي الله عنه قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ الله صلى الله عليه وسلم : (( لَيْسَ مِنَّا مَنْ خَبَّبَ امْرَأَةً عَلَى زَوْجِهَا أَوْ عَبْدًا عَلَى سَيِّدِهِ ))

( سنن أبي داود )

Narrated AbuHurayrah

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Anyone who incites a woman against her husband or a slave against his master is not one of us

(Sunan Abi Dawud)

  • (2210) عَنْ أَبِي تَمِيمَةَ الهُجَيْمِي  أَنَّ رَجُلاً  قَالَ لامْرَأَتِهِ : يَا أُخَيَّةُ ؛ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ الله صلى الله عليه وسلم (( أُخْتُكَ هِيَ ؟ )) فَكَرِهَ ذَلِكَ وَنَهَى عَنْهُ

( سنن أبي داود )

Narrated Tamimah al-Hujayni

A man said to his wife: O my younger sister! The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)said: Is she your sister? He (the Prophet disliked it and prohibited saying so

(Sunan Abi Dawud)

  • (2257)  عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رضي الله عنه قَالَ : جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم مِنْ بَنِي فَزَارَةَ  فَقَالَ : إِنَّ امْرَأَتِي جَاءَتْ بِوَلَدٍ أَسْوَدٍ  فَقَالَ : (( هَلْ لَكَ مِنْ إِبِلٍ ؟ )) قاَلَ : نعم ؛ قال : (( ما ألوانها ؟ )) قاَلَ : حُمْرٌ ؛ قَالَ : (( فَهْلِ فِيهَا مِنْ أَوْرَقَ ؟ قَالَ : إِنَّ فِيهَا  لَوُرْقًا  قَالَ : (( فَأَنَّى تَرَاهُ ؟ ))  قَالَ : عَسَى أَنْ يَكُونَ نَزَعَهُ عِرْقٌ ؛ قال : (( وَهَذَا عَسَى أَنْ يَكُونَ نَزَعَهُ عِرْقٌ ))

( سنن أبي داود )

Abu Hurairah said A man from Banu Fazarah came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and said “My wife has given birth to a black son”. He said “Have you any camels?” He said “They are red”. He asked “Is there a dusky one among them?” He replied “Some of them are dusky”. He asked “How do you think they have come about?” He replied “This may be a strain to which they reverted”. He said “And this is perhaps a strain to which the child has reverted.”

(Sunan Abi Dawud)

  • (1166) عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رضي الله عنهما قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صلى الله عليه سولم (( لا يَنْظُرُ الله إِلَى رَجُلٍ أَتَى رَجُلا أَوْ امْرَأَةً فِي الدُّبُّرِ ))

( جامع الترمذي )

Ibn Abbas narrated that The Messenger of Allah said

“Allah will not look at a man who enters a man or a woman in the behind.”

( Jami aTirmidhi )

  • (1170)  عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رضي الله عنه قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ الله صلى الله عليه وسلم :  (( لا تُسَافِرُ امْرَأَةٌ  مَسِيرَةَ يَوْمٍ وَلَيْلَةٍ إِلَّا وَمَعَهَا ذُو مَحْرَمٍ ))

( جامع الترمذي )

Abu Hurairah narrated that The Messenger of Allah said

“A woman is not to travel the distance of a day and a night unless she is accompanied by someone who is a Mahram

  • (1173) عَنْ عَبْدِالله بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ رضي الله عنه عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم  قَالَ : (( المَرْأَةُ عَوْرَةٌ فَإِذَا خَرَجَتِ اسْتَشْرَفَهَا الشَّيْطَانُ ))

( جامع الترمذي )

Abdullah narrated that The Prophet said

“The woman is Awrah, so when she goes out, the Shaitan seeks to tempt her.”

  • (1939) عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ يَزِيدَ رضي الله عنها قَالَتْ : قَالَ رَسُولُ الله صلى الله عليه وسلم (( لا يَحِلُّ الكَذِبُ إِلَّا فِي ثَلاثٍ : يُحَدِّثُ امْرَأَتَهُ لِيُرْضِيهَا ؛ وَالكَذِبُ فِي الحَرْبِ ؛ وَالكَذِبُ لِيُصْلِحَ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ ))

( جامع الترمذي )

Asma bint Yazid narrated that the Messenger of Allah said

“it is not lawful to lie except in three cases: Something the man tells his wife to please her, to lie during war, and to lie in order to bring peace between the people.”

  • (2489) عَنِ الأَسْوَدِ ابْنِ يَزِيدَ  قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِعَائِشَةَ : أَيُّ شَيْءٍ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَصْنَعُ إَذَا دَخَلَ بَيْتَهُ ؟ قَالَتْ (( كَانَ يَكُونُ  فِي مَهْنَةِ أَهْلِهِ ؛ فَإِذَا حَضَرَتِ الصَّلاةُ قَامَ فَصَلَّى ))

( جامع الترمذي )

Aswad bin Yazid narrated

“I said: ‘O ‘Aishah! What would the Prophet (s.a.w) do when he entered his house?’ She said: ‘he would busy himself with serving his family, then when (the time for) Salat was due he would stand (to go) for it.'”

  • (2787) عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رضي الله عنه قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ الله صلى الله عليه وسلم :  (( طِيبُ الرِّجَالِ مَا ظَهَرَ رِيحُهُ وَخَفِيَ لَوْنُهُ  وَطِيبُ النِّسَاءِ مَا ظَهَرَ لَوْنُهُ وَخَفِيَ رِيحُهُ  ))

( جامع الترمذي )

Narrated Abu Hurairah

that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: “Fragrance for men is that which its scent is apparent and its color is hidden, and fragrance for women is that which its color is visible and its scent is hidden.” (Meaning when leaving the home as indicated by the previous chapter. As far as in the presence of the husband, then the woman may wear fragrant perfume.)

  • (2792) عن عبدالله  قال قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم (( لا تباشر المرأة المرأة حتى تصفها  لزوجها كأنما ينظر إليها ))

Narrated ‘Abdullah

that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: “A woman is not to touch a woman such that she can describe her to her husband as if he is looking at her.”

  • (5141) عن أبي موسى الأشعري رضي الله عنه قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ الله صلى الله عليه وسلم (( أَيُّمَا امْرَأَةٍ  اسْتَعْطَرَتْ  فَمَرَّتْ عَلَى قَوْمٍ لِيَجِدُوا مِنْ رِيحِهَا فَهِيَ زَانِيَةٌ ))

( سنن النسائي )

It was narrated that Al-Ash’ari said

“The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: ‘Any woman who puts on perfume then passes by people so that they can smell her fragrance then she is an adulteress.'”

(Sunan an-Nasa’i)

  • (5142) عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رضي الله عنه قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ الله صلى الله عليه وسلم : (( إِذَا خَرَجَتِ المَرْأَةُ إِلَى المَسْجِدِ  فَلْتَغْتَسِلْ مِنَ الطِّيبِ كَمَا تَغْتَسِلُ مِنَ الجَنَابَةِ ))

( سنن النسائي )

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said

“The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: ‘If a woman goes out to the Masjid, let her perform Ghusl to remove perfume as she would perform Ghusl to remove Janabah (impurity following sexual activity).'” This is an abridged form of it

(Sunan an-Nasa’i)

  • (5143)  عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رضي الله عنه قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ الله صلى الله عليه وسلم : (( أَيُّمَا امْرَأَةً أَصَابَتْ بَخُورًا  فَلَا تَشْهَدْ مَعَنَا العِشَاءَ الآخِرَةَ ))

( سنن النسائي )

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that

The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: “Any woman who has been perfumed with incense should not attend ‘Isha’ the later with us.”

(Sunan an-Nasa’i)

  • (639) عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رضي الله عنه قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ الله صلى الله عليه وسلم : (( مَنْ أَتَى حَائِضًا أَوْ امْرَأَةً فِي دُبُرِهَا  أَوْ كَاهِنًا  فَصَدَّقَهُ  بِمَا يَقُولُ  فَقَدْ كَفَرَ بِمَا أُنْزِلَ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ صلى الله عليه وسلم ))

( سنن ابن ماجه )

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said

“The Messenger of Allah said: ‘Whoever has intercourse with a menstruating woman, or with a woman in her rear, or who goes to a fortuneteller and believes what he says, he has disbelieved in that which was revealed to Muhammad.'”

(Sunan Ibn Majah)

(649)  عَنْ أَنَسٍ رضي الله عنه قَالَ :كانَ رَسُولُ الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وَقَّتَ لِلْنُّفَسَاءِ أَرْبَعِينَ يَوْمًا  إَلَّا أَنْ تَرَى الطُّهْرَ قَبْلَ ذَلِكَ

( سنن ابن ماجه )

It was narrated that Anas said

“The Messenger of Allah set the time for postnatal bleeding at forty days, except for one who becomes pure before that.”

(Sunan Ibn Majah)
